One of the games I hadn't heard anything about prior to it turning up in the Epic Games Store for free during the early days of self-isolation, For the King has surpassed many expectations that I had going into playing it. In truth, because they were just giving away the game, I sort of expected it to be a rather dull game that I would never spend money to play. Thirty-three hours into the game, and it seems that I would be proven wrong.
For the King is a co-op, turn-based, dungeon-filled adventure game for 1-3 players. Travel throughout the land of Fahrul, a randomly generated world where the king has been recently murdered. Follow the requests of the royal family and their steward to avenge the king's death by working your way to the killer and eliminating him. Or, if you want to try out the other game modes, there's also the fight-centric "Hildebrant's Cellar", the coin gathering race "Gold Rush", or the other two story-based modes with different events "Frost Adventure" and "Into the Deep". With a variety of class types, unlockable weapons, armor, and encounters, and the challenging enemies that ramp up in difficulty as the party becomes stronger, the game is sure to keep you on your toes.
