Film Review: "Parasite"

Cho Yeo-jeong stars in 2019's "Parasite".

Director Bong Joon-Ho ("Snowpiercer", "Okja") delivers another masterpiece with 2019's "Parasite", which recently took home 4 Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

This story focuses on the Kims, a poor, struggling lower-class family who decide to pose as experienced workers in order to pawn off the rich, successful Park family and reestablish their life. However, they discover that their deceptive schemes of survival come with a price.

"Parasite" is a fascinating thriller that delivers plenty of surprises, with its sharp, unpredictable storytelling, beautiful cinematography, and great performances from its ensemble cast. Joon-Ho's film pushes the boundaries of filmmaking, telling a story that is rich in symbolism, relevant themes and topics, especially that of the unjust social inequality in our world today. It's a phenomenal, masterfully crafted cinematic experience that holds your attention and remains with you long after the credits roll.

Come check out "Parasite" at the LARC for our Film Series on February 20th and see what the deserving hype is all about! :)
