Film Review: "Die Hard"

Bruce Willis stars as action hero John McClane in "Die Hard" (1988).

Christmas is fast approaching, so what better way to celebrate the season than to check out one of the most iconic cult classics, the 1988 action film "Die Hard"! (Yes, this is a holiday movie!)

"Die Hard" follows NYPD cop John McClane (Bruce Willis), who is visiting his wife and children and attending his wife's company's holiday party on a high-rise building. However, the party is crashed as a group of terrorists, led by the merciless Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman), invade and hold everyone hostage until they can successfully steal a large sum of money from the company's vault. McClane, who manages to escape on his own, realizes that he is the only person who can save the hostages (including his wife), and so he daringly lunges headfirst into danger to bring swift justice to Gruber and his crew.

Featuring breathtaking stunt work and nail-biting action set pieces, sharp writing, and awesome performances from Willis and Rickman, this is a classic that revolutionized the genre and continues to be one of the greatest action movies ever made, and it shouldn't be missed! Go check it out! It's available to rent at the Media & Gaming Lab from our Christmas holiday display, and also available on DVD/Bluray and streaming platforms everywhere!
